Tibetan Dorje Healing Mala

In Sanskrit, dorje is called 'vajra' which means 'thunderbolt' or 'diamond,' The vajra is considered to be like a diamond because it has the ability to destroy (all evil) but cannot be destroyed.

The "thunderbolt of enlightenment" is the abrupt change in human consciousness, a pivotal episode in life where one becomes enlightened that true happiness comes from within and not from external mediums. This realisation allows a person to detach from the illusions of the material.

The dorje symbol is also meditated on with the Hand-bell, representing both the masculine and feminine elements within us that we must balance in order to reach enlightenment. When the dorje sign is worn, they remind the wearer of the indestructibility of knowledge.

The number 108 is considered a sacred number in traditions such as Buddhism & Hinduism. Buddhist prayer beads or
malas
are a traditional tool used to count the number of times a mantra is recited, breaths while meditating, counting prostrations, or the repetitions of a buddha's name. Still used by many yogis today, malas are used to recite mantras while practicing meditation. Other people wear mala beads today as a symbol and reminder of their own journey, whatever it may be.
